Quick Start: What Most Beginners Do Wrong

Before we go deep, here are the 3 biggest early-game mistakes:

  1. ❌ Crafting armor too early

  2. ❌ Enhancing low-tier weapons

  3. ❌ Upgrading the wrong pickaxes

If you avoid just those three, your progression speed will double.

Controls & Combat Basics

Combat in The Forge is active. If you don’t dodge, you die.

The First 30 Minutes Walkthrough (Exact Route)

Follow this roadmap to reach Level 10 fast and unlock World 2 access.

Phase 1 (0–10 Minutes): Sensei Moro & Pebbles

When you spawn in Stonewake’s Cross:

  1. Go inside the forge building.

  2. Talk to Sensei Moro.

  3. Accept: Getting Started!

  4. Equip the Stone Pickaxe (Press T → Equipment).

  5. Go to the Cave entrance.

  6. Mine 6 “Pebbles” (small rocks only).

⚠️ Do NOT mine big rocks yet. Your mining power is too low.

Return to Moro → Accept Learning to Forge!

Phase 2 (10–20 Minutes): Forging Mini-Game Explained

This is where most players get confused.

Use Only 3 Ores per Dagger

Do NOT waste materials.

Mini-Game Steps

  1. Bellows (Temperature Control)
Keep the bar in Yellow/Green. Avoid Red.

  2. Pouring
Click when white line enters yellow zone.

  3. Shaping
    Click repeatedly to break shell.

  4. Hammering (Most Important)
Click exactly when shrinking ring turns green.

If you hit “Perfect,” weapon damage multiplier increases.

Craft 2 cheap daggers → Return to Moro.

Phase 3 (20–30 Minutes): The Economy Loop

Now progression begins.

Step 1: Sell Everything

Sell crafted weapons to Weapon Merchant near the carts.

Step 2: Claim Index Rewards

Press T → Index → Claim everything discovered.

Early-game Index rewards give massive XP + gold.

Step 3: Upgrade Pickaxe

Buy:

  • Bronze Pickaxe ($150)

  • Then work toward Iron

⚠️ Later skip Gold & Platinum pickaxes.
Save for Cobalt Pickaxe ($10,000) at Level 10.

Pickaxe Progression (Optimal Path)

Follow this exact order:

  1. Iron Pickaxe (World 1 Shop)

  2. Stonewake Pickaxe (World 1 Cave)

  3. Cobalt Pickaxe (World 2 Shop)

  4. Mythril Pickaxe (World 2 Shop)

  5. Arcane Pickaxe (Bard Quest)

  6. Aqua Pickaxe (World 3 Shop)

  7. Snow Pickaxe (World 3 Shop)

  8. Frost Pickaxe (World 3 Shop)

  9. Dragon Head Pickaxe (Raven Cave – World 3)

Money-Saving Trick

Before upgrading:

  1. Buy Bronze

  2. Sell current pickaxe

  3. Use recovered gold toward next tier

This prevents downtime and keeps mining active.
